쉬운 IT, 중요한 Security 그리고 재밌는 AI 이야기

On October 2 (Friday) at 3 p.m., a special lecture was held in Room 703 of Building 301, featuring Yoon-ki Jung, a Solution Engineer (SE) at Cisco, under the theme “Easy IT, Essential Security, and the Fun Side of AI.” The lecture was organized by Professor Jun-ho Lee of the Korean-English Program and attended by approximately 40 second-year AITP students. Jung currently works as a Solution Engineer (SE) at Cisco, an IT company, providing technical support and consulting services to major companies including Samsung and LG, as well as delivering lectures. His talk covered a wide range of topics in IT, from fundamental concepts of the industry to how the internet and networks work to cybersecurity and AI security.

지난 10월 2일 (금) 오후 3시, 301관 703호에서 Cisco의 정윤기 SE를 초청해 ‘쉬운 IT, 중요한 Security 그리고 재밌는 AI 이야기’ 주제로 특별 강연을 열었다. 이번 특강은 한·영 전공 이준호 교수 주관으로 개최되었으며, 전문통번역학과 2학년생 약 40명이 참여했다. 정윤기 연사는 현재 IT 기업인 Cisco에서 솔루션 엔지니어(SE)를 맡고 있으며 삼성, LG 등 주요 기업을 대상으로 기술 지원 및 컨설팅, 강연을 진행하고 있다. 이번 강연에서는 IT 산업의 기본 개념부터 인터넷과 네트워크의 작동 원리, 사이버 보안과 AI 보안에 이르기까지 IT 분야를 폭넓게 다뤘다.

Jung began by discussing interpretation and translation in the IT industry and the role of interpreters in the field. He explained that interpreting in IT requires more than simply understanding technical terminology. Interpreters also need to understand the language actually used in IT meetings and the context in which professionals work.

먼저 정윤기 연사는 IT 산업에서 이루어지는 통번역 업무와 통역사의 역할에 대해 설명했다. IT 분야의 통역에서는 단순히 전문 용어를 이해하는 것을 넘어 IT 회의실에서 실제로 사용되는 언어와 업무의 맥락을 이해하는 것이 중요하다고 강조했다.

He then introduced fundamental concepts essential to understanding IT, including cloud servers, IP address systems, and data transmission protocols, and explained how the internet is connected across the world. He also detailed how internet services work, helping students better understand the underlying structure of the internet. Jung also emphasized the importance of information security. He discussed the history of cyberattacks and hacking, how data breaches occur, and how security systems work. He highlighted the need for multi-layer defense rather than relying on a single security measure.

이어 클라우드 서버, IP 주소 체계, 데이터 전송 규약 등 IT 분야를 이해하는 데 필요한 기본 개념을 소개하고 전 세계 인터넷이 연결되는 방식에 대해서도 설명했다. 이밖에도 인터넷 서비스 작동 구조를 소개하여 학생들의 이해를 도왔다. 또한 정윤기 연사는 정보 보안의 중요성을 강조했다. 사이버 공격과 해킹의 역사를 비롯해 정보 유출이 발생하는 과정과 보안 체계에 대해 설명했으며 하나의 보안 장치에 의존하기보다 다계층 방어(multi-layer defense)의 필요성을 소개했다.

During the Q&A session that followed, Jung drew on his own experience to offer students practical advice on their career paths and the role of interpreters and translators.

강연 후 이어진 질의응답 시간에서 정윤기 연사는 자신의 경험을 바탕으로 학생들의 커리어와 통번역사의 역할에 대한 구체적인 조언을 전했다.

Meanwhile, second-year AITP students from the Korean-English, Korean-Chinese, and Korean-Russian Programs provided simultaneous interpretation in their respective languages.

한편 이번 특강에서는 전문통번역학과 한·영, 한·중, 한·러 2학년 재학생들이 전공 언어로 동시통역을 지원했다.
